Laura Gast & Kyle Votroubek: September 26, 2015
Laura and Kyle are two of the kindest people you will meet, so it’s not surprising that they agreed to share their love story and wedding photos with you to help inspire you for your wedding day. For them, getting married wasn’t about all the glitter and the glam, it was about sharing their special day with ALL their family and friends that mean so much to them. Michael Grobin Photography was happy to capture this day for them to share with you.
Laura and Kyle did not know each other even though they were both graduates of Prairie High School. It wasn’t until a couple of years ago at a group gathering of mutual friends that their romance began. They chatted that night and both were impressed. Laura was beautiful and sweet and Kyle was handsome and kind. Laura told Kyle if he was interested to send her a message on Facebook. Later that week, they met up for dinner together and their love spiraled from there.
Laura has a son and a daughter, so they wanted to take their romance slow to make sure they were “right” for each other, but they knew they were, so slow was hard! Within a couple of months they had met each other’s families and all approved. Laura’s kids trusted and really liked Kyle with their mom. Kyle proposed to Laura after a year of dating and they were married 8 months later.
Their wedding was absolutely perfect! They were married at the Vet’s Memorial Building surrounded by their family and friends. They said their vows on the stage while guests watched from their seats, drinks in hand. The wedding party was huge, as Kyle had 15 groomsmen stand up for him – a testament to how everyone loves Kyle! The speeches were all comic, however Kyle’s emotional speech thanking Laura for not only marring him and giving him such joy, but bringing two wonderful children into his life was unforgettable. The rest of the night was all about having a good time as guests danced and posed in the photo booth.
Laura and Kyle are so happy they found each other and look forward to the next chapter in their lives together. Their advice to you as newlyweds is: Kyle: “Plan early and plan often. Get a good wedding planning book or coordinator. There is a lot to do so don’t put it off. If you have the choice to go big or go small, go small. If you are planning it yourself, bigger is usually more stressful.“ Laura: “Your wedding day is about marrying your best friend so don’t stress about the little things like flowers and decor, but if you do, hire a wedding coordinator.”
