Where/how did you first meet?
Dan and I went the same high school and middle school. He was dating my neighbor when we first met. We weren’t super close in high school, but we would chat every once in a while. We both went to the University of Iowa and we ran into each other at the Engineering building one day and we talked and met up all the time after that.

How/when did you know he/she was the one?
Dan claims he knew I was the one in high school, but I don’t believe that. I think we both knew right away that we were very compatible and worked together well. I think within the first year together I knew that this was who I was supposed to be with.

Tell us about the proposal!
Dan and I were in the process of buying our first home together. June 3rd was the day we closed and got the keys. We were going back to the house to start painting some of the rooms (Or so I thought). When we got there, both of our families were there. I was clueless, I thought they were there to help paint. Then I noticed there were flowers and photos of us around the house and then Dan asked me to marry him. It was a no-brainer, but I had no idea it was going to happen. It was a great surprise and end to a crazy day.

What is the theme and color palette for your special day?
Our color scheme was emerald green and black with gold accents. We incorporated a lot of greenery to make it feel very festive and winter-y.

What was your most memorable wedding moment or favorite part of your wedding?
I really enjoyed the bridal party dance, it was a nice time to cut loose with our friends. Overall just being able to see friends and family and celebrate a new beginning for us.

What advice would you have for other couple’s getting married?
Enjoy every moment! Take lots of photos, because the day goes so quickly!

About Stacie Ricklefs

I LOVE a good love story! My husband and I met our freshman year of college when he drew my name out of a hat to write a bio about me in English class. Almost 10 years of marriage later he is still my best friend and partner in raising our 3 handsome little men. Love stories are what drew me into becoming a photographer and owner of Stacie Ricklefs Photo + Design. I still tear up at weddings during the beautiful intimate moments... but always after I get the killer shots of them.
