Building Homes and Love in Joplin, Missouri

Building Homes and Love in Joplin, Missouri

Kolbi Moore & Scott Jamison: August 29, 2015

Scott and Kolbi’s love of people and helping others connected them forever. This energetic couple planned and decorated much of their beautiful wedding solo and it’s no surprise that they want to share it with other couples for inspiration! Stacie Ricklefs of Stacie Ricklefs Photo + Design captured their creativity and love story for all to see.

Scott and Kolbi first met in 2012 through a young professional’s organization in Iowa City, but it wasn’t until they both volunteered rebuilding houses in Joplin, Missouri after the tornado ripped through, that they really hit it off. When Scott and Kolbi first started dating, at the end of each night they would spend endless hours talking, listening to music, and sneaking in a few kisses in Scott’s truck. After a couple of these evenings, Scott knew Kolbi was the one! Then, one random weekday night, Scott took Kolbi to look at Christmas lights and then they drove back to their home in North Liberty. However, when Scott got out of the truck, he came around to the passenger side, got down on one knee, and asked Kolbi to marry him. Her response was, “SHUT UP,”  in excitement of course! Scott said he fell in love with Kolbi in that truck and that is why he proposed to her there!

Kolbi is super crafty and couldn’t wait to begin planning and decorating for their wedding. She has a whole room dedicated to scrapbooking and crafts in their home, so it was no surprise to family and friends that there was a lot of DIY and Pinterest inspiration at the wedding. The color palette was mint green and pale peach with gold accents. Very little was purchased for decorations, and if it was, Kolbi was sure to find a coupon for it. Many of their decorations came from Scott’s grandparents’ century old farm and Kolbi’s mom’s antique collection. It all looked amazing!

The ceremony was breathtaking as Scott and Kolbi recited their vows at Kent Park overlooking the pond. Afterwards, they celebrated with family and friends at Wildwood Smokehouse and Saloon. With a rustic vintage vibe, it was the perfect setting for a BBQ dinner and a s’mores bar to top off the meal.

Scott and Kolbi’s wedding day was truly their perfect day with perfect weather that they will cherish forever. One of their most memorable moments was looking out from their head table and seeing hundreds of their favorite family and friends all sharing in the best day of their lives! It’s touching to be able to share that experience and see the support from all your loved ones! And now they’ve shared it with you.

Scott and Kolbi plan to honeymoon in Aruba.

About Nicky Wilkinson

I’m proud to say I’m an Iowa farm girl from Swisher. I married my college sweetheart, Dale Wilkinson, and we have five girls. We live in the country with our cats and dog. Camping, canoeing, horseback riding and biking are some of our favorite activities. Our girls keep us busy with plenty of school activities and hobbies. I took over The Wedding Guide in August of 2014. I am inspired everyday by our local venues and dedicated wedding professionals. They are hard working and very talented. I get the opportunity to share that inspiration with couples to help them plan for their best day ever.
